DVD camcorder popularity has skyrocketed in the past few years dew to many factors. They achieved the second place after Mini-DV camcorders as the average consumer’s choice. One of the factors that contributed to DVD camcorders grabbing the attention of the average consumer is the storage media format. All you need to do is pop the DVD into any DVD player, and you have preserved your content into some high quality storage device that’s very easily accessible at any time convenient. Examples of DVD Camcorders include: the Sony DCV-DVD505, Panasonic VDR-D300, and Canon DC40 camcorders.
As you might have guessed, there are shortcomings to using DVD camcorders too. The sensitivity of the storage media is the major disadvantage. It’s very small, that if dropped, there’s a risk of losing your stored content, due to scratches and so on. However, it’s also very cheap that you can produce many DVD copies to minimize that risk.
AVCHD - a new compression system - was created this year (2007). This new system made possible the recording of High Definition videos [HD] onto DVD media. It’s still very expensive, and that’s normal considering the fact that it’s a new technology. Both Sony and Panasonic act as the co-creators of this new technology. I wouldn’t consider using this technology now, but I most definitely will use it when I notice more competition from other brands (which means, cheaper products).

Their History
When you think of the history of camcorders, you will not believe how big and bulky they were long years ago. TV show producers used machines about the size of a refrigerator to record videos on two-inch wide videotapes. Camcorder design and technology have greatly advanced ever since, and now they come in all kinds of shapes, abilities, and flavours. Without them, we would still be lugging around with vhs-beta recorders back in the day. no matter where you are, what you do, whether on a plane, swimming, up on a mountain, you are able to create high quality shots and produce your own work with no hassels.
In order to appreciate camcorders, you need to compare how advanced they have become to the camcorders of days gone by. A simple search in Google.com about camcorders will get you all kinds of websites and companies selling camcorders of all shapes and descriptions, having strange, but powerful capabilities.
Camcorders were originally designed for the purpose of brodcasting news on the run. Imagine what would our lives be like without this invention. Without camcorders, we wouldn’t be able to preserve our memories of childhood, graduation ceremonies, weddings, and the list continues.
Camcorders nowadays are very compact. They can be carried anywhere in our pockets, we have them in our cellphones, and they can record in many media formats such as VHS tapes - they are considered old school now - DVDs, memory cards, etc.. There are tons of accessories you can find for the camcorders, including: tripods, Ion batteries, USB and A/V cables, AC power adapters, and editing/production software programs.
